For sale is a very nice cup and saucer made by Spode in the early 19th century . In the Bute shape and with what I think is one of their nicest if not the nicest pattern. The cup and saucer have a bird scene on them with one bird each sitting on a branch with some superb greenery surrounding it. Great cobalt blue ground color to the rims highlighted with nice gilding. The birds are named underneath in black which is unusual. This set displays superbly but the saucer has two stained hairlines only visible from the underside and the cup has a bit of wear to the gilding mostly to the bottom part and handle. Fine crazing to the white area on the underside of the saucer mostly. The cup is 2.25 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.25 inches. The saucer is 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 5.5 inches. Both pieces are marked with a black SPODE mark underneath.
