Rene Lalique introduced Coq Nain - one of his series of car mascots (hood ornaments) in the late 1920s. The majority of them, as well as those produced since his passing in 1945, are in clear and frosted glass. This one is in topaz and all the more outstanding and unusual for it. Coq Nain is beautifully and realistically detailed and illustrates great pride and character.
Close to the base, it is moulded R. LALIQUE shown on last image but not clearly visible.
Approx. height measurement is 20 cms (almost 8 ins).
Condition: previously owned and in very good condition but two minor issues: the top two tail feathers have been professionally, marginally reduced. It doesn't show until you place it next to a perfect specimen. Also there is some nibbled roughness at the centre back just above the base. I only spotted it when under a bright light and have not been able to capture it in a close-up - probably because of the colour of the glass.
I welcome your questions & comments.
I ship by Royal Mail's 'signed for' service. They don't deliver to Box Numbers so regrettably, neither can I.
