KPM Berlin Hand Painted WWI Frederick the Great Portrait & Green Empire Form Cup

Fabulous large porcelain empire form cup with swan handle and saucer. Decorated in green and grey with a hand painted portrait of Frederick the Great on a horse. The border is decorated with a green leaf wreath wrapped in black and white ribbon. Marked on the bottom with the red globe over KPM and the blue scepter mark used by KPM Berlin. It also has a black iron cross used by KPM Berlin between 1914 and 1918.

Frederick the Great was born in 1712 and died in 1786. He was king of Prussia from 1740 to 1786 and purchased the KPM factory in 1763.

There is some minor wear to the green at the back near the base. Otherwise excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

The cup measures approximately 4 1/2 inches wide including the handle x 5 3/8 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 6 1/4 inches wide.

This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
